Jenbacher gas engines for a powerful future

When used in greenhouses, INNIO's Jenbacher gas engines' combined heat and power (CHP) systems not only provide electricity for the public grid, but also heat and carbon dioxide (CO2) to fertilize plants and meet the requirements of an efficient greenhouse.

Plants grow by converting CO2 —also found in air—to carbon through photosynthesis, and greenhouse plants absorb even more CO2 because of the increased artificial lighting that is present. If the greenhouse environment is enriched with CO2, the temperature is kept constant, and sufficient lighting is provided, plant growth and the harvest yield can be increased significantly.
